Candle Care

All our candles are lovingly made to provide you with hours of lovely scent. To keep them looking and working their best (and safest), please follow our candle care tips to enjoy the best scent and burn experience.

Burning your candle

When you first light your candle ensure that it burns for 3-4 hours or until the wax has completely melted to the edge of the container.

For every burn, thereafter, burn the candle until the melt pool reaches the edges. Burning for less time can cause the candle to ‘tunnel’, which leaves a build-up of wax around the container’s sides.

Never let your candle burn for more than 4 hours. Burning for longer periods can cause the wick to slant and make the container excessively hot.

Always trim your wick down between burns to 5mm to prevent the candle from smoking or sooting and to prolong scent throw.

Ensure you place your candle on a heat proof surface, away from children, draughts, and pets.

Never allow your candle to burn right up to the base of the container to prevent excess heat build-up.

Storing candles for too long can affect the scent so use your candle in a reasonable time to make the most of its lovely scent.

Did you know?

Your candle is a 100% natural soy wax product. This means that it can react to temperature fluctuations in its environment and can cause the wax to sometimes look uneven in the glass as a result – sometimes known as ‘pull away’.

When wax cools it will slightly shrink, which can cause the wax to pull away very slightly from the glass wall. The glass can act as a magnifier and create an illusion of a gap but this is no larger than a hair. This is perfectly normal so there is no need to worry about this and it will not affect how you burn your candle. When your candle warms up again this effect will dissipate.

We could add extra ingredients to the wax to help reduce this, but we like to keep our products as natural as possible.

Each of our candles burns for a varying length of time depending on their individual scent and how they are cared for. We have provided indicative burn times but recommend you follow our care guide to get the best from your candle.
